Sung-Gyun Choi, Past International Director (2006-2008), died on August 19, 2021.  He was 83 years old.

A Lion since 1979, and a member of the Seoul Young-Kwang Lions Club, the late Past Director Choi held many offices within the association, including club president, district governor, and district international understanding and cooperation chair, youth exchange chair, Peace Poster Contest chair, and public relations and information chair.

In recognition of his dedication to the association he received numerous awards, including the Helping Hands award, and Humanitarian Partner, several International President’s Awards, and the International President’s Leadership Award. The late Past Director Choi received his district’s Lions Service Award of the Year 17 times, and the Helen Keller Circle of Hope Award for his very generous contributions to Campaign SightFirst. He was awarded the Ambassador of Good Will award, the highest honor given by the association to its members, and was also a multi-level Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

As the president of a successful corporation, the late Past Director Choi offered encouragement to staff members, instilling in them a sense of pride in their work.  He was respected by many for his determination and talents in the business community. The late Past Director Choi was a dedicated husband, and father who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and extended family.
