Stanley Dawson, Past International Director (1992-1994) died in June of 2021. He was 94 years old.

A Lion since 1973, he was a member of the Cabarita Beach & Pottsville Beach Lions Club. The late Past Director Dawson served the association at the club, district, and international level. He was the Host Committee Chairman for the 74th International Convention in Brisbane, Australia, in 1991. For his commitment and dedication to the association, the late Past Director was honored with several awards including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award, five Presidential awards, and the Ambassador of Good Will, the highest honor the association grants its members. He was also a Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to Lion recognition, the Late Past Director Dawson was also awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. This award recognizes individuals for outstanding achievement and service.

He was a significant figure in the history of Australian Lionism, from his Chairmanship of the 1991 International Convention in Brisbane to his continued involvement in International Lion's affairs. His enthusiasm for improving Australian and ANZI-Pacific relations inspired many. He quietly gave practical and common sense advice, which led to better understanding progress.

In addition to his Lions activities, the late Past Director enjoyed a successful career in the airline industry and was an active member of many clubs. He received the Queensland State Premier's Award for his welfare work for senior citizens. He was a dedicated husband to his late spouse, Ivy, and devoted father of two children.
